Happy Election Day - Free Mojave Margarita
It's election day all, as you know, and I hope that many of you have already gotten your vote on. Many businesses are getting in the spirit, offering fun little treats and incentives for our politically spirited residents. Here's a fun one from Mojave - I hope you enjoy it!
Mojave's Election Deal
If you come in to Mojave today, get a red, white and blue margarita on the house with your main course order. Their margaritas are delicious and they use real fruit to make them extra special.
In terms of entrees, I highly recommend the Santa Fe Shepherd's Pie, the Chile Glazed Meatloaf, and the Bandera Duck Enchiladas. But really...everything is good.

Queens Restaurant Week is Here!
![]() |
| Image by Astor Bake Shop |
It's officially here! Queens Restaurant week is here, and contrary to its name, this restaurant promotion actually goes on for 2 weeks - from October 8-11 as well as October 15-18. While you probably won't get to them all, this is surely a great opportunity to try new restaurants that have been on your list for a discounted price. The offers of each place vary but some restaurants are featuring 3-course prix-fixes for just $25, and in some cases, I've even seen a 2 for $25 deal.
Astoria is of course a part of this with the following restaurants participating. I've starred the ones I like most, but if you're in the mood explore beyond Astoria, here's the full list of participating restaurants. Enjoy and bon appetit.
Astoria Restaurants Participating in Queens Restaurant Week:
Astor Bake Shop**
Da Franco Italian Restaurant
Fayrooz Cafe
Giuliana's Pizzeria
Mojave**
On the Nile Cafe
Ponticello Ristorante
Telly's Taverna
The Astor Room
Zenon Taverna**

Happy 4th Astoria! Hope that everyone is having a lovely and sunny Independence Day. While many of you may be out and about, partaking in BBQs and other such fun happs, in case you don't have plans yet, here's a short list of 3 things you can still do:
Mojave - Join Mojave for their 4th of July celebration today with live music, a special BBQ menu & open bar, tequila shots and other specials. You won't be disappointed, especially with their awesome margaritas, sangritas, beers and other refreshing drinks. 22-36 31st Street, Astoria. 718.545.4100
Ovelia - Featuring a fun line-up of food and drinks specials, if you'd like to hit it up early, you can enjoy brunch, which is being served until 5 p.m. After that, you can indulge in their legendary Rock 'n Rib Wednesdays menu, which is Ovelia's special Greek twist on BBQ. I've had it before and highly recommend it (think kafteri poppers, buffalo fried calamari, and of course BBQ'd ribs). 34-01 30th Avenue, Astoria. 718.721.7217
La Guli - If you're in the mood to cool down a bit, visit La Guli for their awesome homemade gelato and Italian ices. They also have 4th of July themed treats such as a red, white and blue cake with vanilla and chocolate custard as as well as mini 4th of July themed cupcakes. 29-15 Ditmars Blvd, Astoria. 718.728.5612

Mojave's Festive MLK Brunch
I'm sure we're all excited for the upcoming long weekend - having Monday off is always a nice treat and a great way to get through the work week. While some restaurants in the nabe will be doing business as usual, others are taking it as an opportunity to offer an extended brunch offering. Being that brunch is my favorite meal, and I know many would agree, I was excited to learn about the special MLK brunch offering at Mojave.
If you have an appreciation for quality Southwestern food, I urge you to check it out. Here's a sampling of what you can expect starting from 11:00 a.m.

Mojave's 4th of July Drinks and Food Specials
With this awesome 3 day (or for some of you longer) weekend coming up, there's never a shortage of fun neighborhood goings on. Mojave Southwestern restaurant is always great at celebrations and at getting the word out!
I'm happy to report that for the 4th, they'll be featuring $6 "All American Margaritas" all night, as well as a special brunch and BBQ menu on Sunday and Monday. The food and drinks here really speak for themselves so I highly encourage you to check it out. Their frozen margaritas are bodacious, and I suggest the mango, which has some nice chunks of this sweet fruit in the midst of the cocktail.
Their fabulous outdoor garden will be open, so don't forget to bring some sun screen if you plan on hanging out outside and enjoying.
Happy 4th everyone!

50% off at Mojave - It's NOT a Groupon
One of my favorite coupon websites, Scoutmob NYC is offering an awesome deal on Mojave Southwestern restaurant that I thought you'd want to get in on. For those of you who don't know it, Scoutmob is not your ordinary "Groupon-style" site, where you have to pre-pay for a coupon worth more than what you pay for it. Quite the opposite, Scoutmob allows you to simply sign up for a coupon, without having to pay in advance, often extending a 50% discount. The coupon is conveniently sent to your phone and you can use it until 3/23/11.
So after all that holiday spending, who couldn't use a convenient coupon to one of Astoria's delicious stand-bys which serves some of the most delicious margaritas, salmon sandwiches (pictured above), chilis, tacos, quesadillas, and much more.
Get your Mojave Scoutmob coupon - you have until midnight tonight to claim it.
