Since we all know that the big storm is coming tomorrow night, many of you probably won't be dining out, but you'll want to get out on Thursday instead. That's why I wanted to spread the word about Astor Room's bourbon tasting, which is happening on Thursday, 3/7 at 6:45 p.m.
Collaborating together with 36th Avenue Wine & Spirits, the bourbon tasting will involve a little lesson about your favorite spirit from a distillery representative. Throughout the course of the evening, you'll learn about bourbons such as Eagle Rare, Elmer T. Lee, Buffalo Trace, Blanton's & Pappy Wan Winkle 12 year.
And for a little noshing, you'll also enjoy Astor Room's sophisticated hors d'oeuvres, served throughout the evening. It all starts at 6:45 p.m. and will set you back $40/person, which is quite reasonable for the amount of bourbon you'll be trying. Remember back in the winter when 5 Napkin Burger hosted their beer & bourbon series? Well they're back at it this summer, starting with a Michter's Whiskey event on Wednesday, June 13th followed by Stone Brewing Company on June 27th.
The format of the events is really fun and totally conducive to mixing/mingling and meeting new people. It starts off as a casual cocktail reception, during which you get to meet the brewers, start sampling their beer or whiskey and get a little nibble of 5 Napkin's delectable apps.
After the initial meet and greet, you'll sit down to a plated two course dinner, during which you also get to try different beers or whiskey (depends on the event). My favorite aspect of the dinners are when the brewers come around to gather your feedback on their various libations. It's really fun!
Here are all the vital deets for both events - the price is fair at just $35/event or $60 for both (this includes tax and gratuity), so if you're interested, go ahead and reserve your spots sooner than later.

Exciting stuff readers...as I told you last week, 5 Napkin Burger is graciously hosting another Beer & Bourbon dinner series starting this October. And what's even sweeter is that you have the opportunity to attend!
For those of you still unfamiliar with this event, it's a fabulous up-close-and-personal way to meet local beer brewers, ask them your burning questions and of course sample their goods. All of this takes place in the company of some of the juiciest, meatiest burgers packed with flavor and fabulosity that we call 5 Napkin.
In addition to their usual grub, they'll also be featuring special dishes keyed to each event. This could include anything and everything from fondue with pretzel bread to vanilla cupcakes with vanilla porter icing. Mmmm...licking your lips already?
