Momento Reopens as Dino's on Monday

I spotted a curious thing last night, walking on Newton Ave from the supermarket. Momento Italian Restaurant, which hasn't had the best rep is being revamped and reopened under a different name. The new place (under the same management) is called Dino's Restaurant and Bar of Astoria. I inquired about the cuisine and it'll still be Italian with a few upgrades - I'll get a hold of the menu soon and post it.

The inside of the restaurant is getting a much needed face lift and in order to see it for yourself, you can check it out this Monday when it'll open to the public. Curious to see if these improvements will make a difference.

Zodiac - Closed for Good?

About nine months ago, I mentioned the temporary closing of Zodiac Cafe due to renovation. I've been keeping a close eye on it and I haven't seen any sort of progress, making me wonder if this long-time Astoria staple is closed for good. Investigating further, I called their number and it has been disconnected, raising more red flags. If anyone knows the scoop about this place, please drop me a line. And unless I hear otherwise, I'm going to assume that this place is finito.
