I spotted a curious thing last night, walking on Newton Ave from the supermarket. Momento Italian Restaurant, which hasn't had the best rep is being revamped and reopened under a different name. The new place (under the same management) is called Dino's Restaurant and Bar of Astoria. I inquired about the cuisine and it'll still be Italian with a few upgrades - I'll get a hold of the menu soon and post it.
The inside of the restaurant is getting a much needed face lift and in order to see it for yourself, you can check it out this Monday when it'll open to the public. Curious to see if these improvements will make a difference.
Dino's Restaurant and Bar of Astoria - 29-35 Newtown Avenue, Astoria NY 11102
N/W train to 30th Avenue
I haven't had a chance to try this place yet, but I heard that they are having a Grand Opening on October 12, 2009 from 6:00pm -8:00pm.ReplyDelete
Cool, thanks for the tip.ReplyDelete
I think this is the same place that was "Amici, Amore"- then they split it and opened a steak place next door. My husband and I loved it when it was A&A (we were dating then)- they had an amazing Osso Bucco and their Carpacio (sp?) was fresh and tasty. The prices were a little high, but for a date it is alright...just not a frequent visit. I may have to give Dino's a try- to see if it has the A&A feel- I think they were the same owners as Momento.ReplyDelete
I think it is the same owners as Momento but the cuisine is slightly different. I loved it too when it was Amici Amore - really yummy pasta and steak.ReplyDelete
