Welcome Cranky's Cafe

At last - a really cool place has occupied the old Brazil Coffee House space on Vernon Blvd in LIC.  I noticed it the other day when on my way to Testaccio and walked in briefly to check out their digs. was nice!  Set up like a casual cafe with wait service, the place features light food such as salads, paninis, traditional sandwiches and even brunch on weekends.  I love the elevated communal table on one side and intimate seating on the other.  It's a very chill place that I'd love to try out soon perhaps for lunch or brunch.

I grabbed a menu of course and wanted to give you a taste to whet your appetite:

    Monday, July 26, Glassheart, by Reina Hardy – Cursed for centuries, the Beast from the fairy tale “Beauty and the Beast” and his one remaining magical servant move into a shabby apartment near a 7-11.
    All readings begin at 8 p.m. at Cranky’s Café, 48-19 Vernon Blvd., Long Island City, Queens. Take the #7 train to Vernon-Jackson station, one stop from Grand Central Station.
