On my way from the gym this weekend, I noticed a new eatery right off of 30th Avenue and 36th Street called Crave.  Don't know much about it yet, except that it looks like it's about ready to open.  I have a call into them and will update you with any progress.  It looks like a cool space for something funky and different than the run-of-the-mill 30th Avenue cafe.  Holler if you know more about it.

  1. I moved from Astoria to Bulgaria three years ago. Every time I am back there, so many things change. I will be following your blog, so I can keep abreast of the new goings on!

  3. Not to be confused with newly-opened Krave on Ditmars. . . This is going to make restaurant discussions in the neighborhood a little more complicated.

  4. FYI, Elo, waaaay down on 31st Ave, near 12th street is apparently closed now, since Dec. (you'll remember it opened as the Vue restaurant in 2008, but changed names shortly thereafter.) Anyway, I got to eat there in Nov. just before it shut, and it was pretty good. Strange thing is the tables and all other furniture is still inside. So maybe it will re-open in the Spring. Regardless, we all thought it was an odd location for a restaurant.

I love Crave! I've been there more times that I care to admit, but it's Greek food plus the fast food/diner-esk advantage. It's small - great for take out and the ingredients are fresh. Not the healthiest eatery, but not exactly the unhealthiest either. I think they may win over Pita Pan for me :)
