The Gyro Place - Now Called Aphrodite

The previously named The Gyro Place on Ditmars Blvd is now called Aphrodite. The name change happened about a month ago but the place remains under the same management. The food is the same too but they've revamped their look a bit and designed a new menu. While the gyros here are not my favorite, they're decent and so is the rest of the food. I'd recommend it for take-out or a casual, quick lunch or dinner. Nothing fancy--just fast, convenient Greek food.

Here is a peek at the menu that I grabbed:

Pikilia - Assorted appetizer sampler...$8.45
Lountza - Pork filet Cyprus style...$4.95
Fried Zucchini - With egg, Cyprus style...$7.50

Souvlaki and More:

Pita gyro - Donner (pork), chicken or beef...$5.35
Pita Sheftlia - Pork...$5.60
Vegetable in pita...$4.25

Aphrodite Sandwiches (served on special Triara bread):

Cyprus triara special - Halloumi and bacon...$5.50, Halloumi and Lountza (pork)...$5.50, Halloumi and loukaniko sausage...$5.50
Ham and cheese triara...$4.50
Grilled chicken Caesar triara...$5.50

Greek Favorite Plates:

Spanakopita - Spinach pie...$8.95
Pastitsio - Greek lasagna...$10.95

Rice pudding - Greek homestyle...$2.75

Aphrodite - 33-01 Ditmars Boulvevard, Astoria NY 11105
N/W Train to Ditmars Blvd (last stop)

  1. I was so disapointed with this place!

  2. Sorry to hear that, what didn't you like?

  3. The gyros are bland, bland, bland. The meat tastes undercooked (soggy) and their tzatziki has the consistency and flavor of skim milk.

  4. This place has the best Chicken Souvlaki on stick I've ever eaten.

I am Cypriot and I know what cypriot food taste like.

Aphrodite Reastaurant has the best cypriot food in Astoria
