Looking forward to the Superbowl last week, I planned on making something special for dessert. Since I don't really dabble in making desserts much, given my frequent gluten free bouts, I was excited to try something new, and thought to recreate my favorite cookie at Momofuku Milk Bar, which is of course the Compost Cookie.
For those of you not too familiar with this treat, it's truly a compost of sorts, as it combines a bevy of different sweet and savory ingredients such as chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, rolled oats, potato chips (yes, actual potato chips) and pretzels. I love how chunky and rustic they are, as the recipe encourages you not to break up the savory ingredients so they're fully on display.
Happy to find the original recipe right on Momofuku Milk Bar's website, I took to making these for Josh and Diana's Superbowl party. They were quite tasty out of the oven but I botched them up a bit by burning the bottoms unfortunately. Dan loved them from the get go, and gobbled up a few even before they made it to the Superbowl.

Happy Superbowl everyone! Hope you have something fun in store for the big game. I'm heading to my brother-in-law and sister-in-law's annual, legendary Superbowl party, and as I usually do, am bringing a treat.
This year I decided to go with dessert, as in the past I've stuck to things more savory. Knowing what a sweet tooth I have, you won't be surprised that I made cupcakes with a football design, which are also flavored with Nutella. I spotted the recipe for this yummy on the My Baking Heart blog, and they looked gorgeous. While mine aren't as up to snuff when it comes to looks, I think they still came out pretty cute and the taste is definitely there.
Overall, I'd say the difficulty of this dessert is about a 6 or 7 on a 10 point scale. The most meticulous part of course is the frosting and making sure to stay within the lines of the cupcake silhouette. To ensure I kept it semi neat, I drew a circle with frosting around the cupcake and then filled out the middle. Hope you have a go at it too and let me know what you think.

It's gameday - one of the greatest days of the year for American sports and also for American food. Every year, I prepare something new and innovative, last year producing savory wonton cups filled with ground turkey, topped with wasabi mayonnaise. And though people enjoyed them, I wasn't completely happy with the actual wonton cups, as they came out too well done.
This year, I wanted to give this versatile dough another try, producing a sweet version. I baked the pre-made wonton wrappers I got at a local Korean supermarket for 10 minutes in a 350 degree oven. They remained milky white, yet a little golden around the edges, which is just what I wanted. I then stuffed them with fruit salad of berries and tangerines, made by my cousin Stephanie. To top this sweet treat, I made fresh whipped cream with a little bit of sugar and then sprinkled that with a light dusting of unsweetened cocoa powder.
The result is a crunchy on the outside, juicy on the inside treat that's poppable and delicious. I'm about to go to Moses and Sonya's Superbowl party to see how it'll be received. As an extra precaution, I'm bringing a jar of Nutella with me just in case. *wink*Happy Superbowl Readers!
