Burger Club - Verdict is Still Out...

While I've been hearing some mixed reviews about
Burger Club, I have to say that it intrigues me very much.  I've passed by a few times, but have always been on my way somewhere else, so I haven't yet ventured inside.  While it looks enticing, it's also never too crowded, which shows they still have their work cut out when it comes to clientele.  Curious about the menu, I grabbed one and wanted to share it.  They have poutine...wowza!

  1. I was very interested in trying our newest burger joint (not that we really need another) and I stopped in the week after it opened.

I was on my way home from work, so decided to do take out. The staff was very friendly, and the restaurant was about 50% full. I ordered at the bar and waited and watched, with the occasional glimpse into the kitchen.

I ordered a Burger Club Classic (medium) with cheese and a Brioche bun. I also added bacon and a side of onion rings. There's actually a "side" and a smaller "deluxe-style" portion for the onion rings, which is what I went for.

While sitting at the bar, no one really made any attempt at conversation with me, and everyone seemed pretty busy. Understandable since they were still fairly new, but not exactly what I would expect from a restaurant trying to build up good word-of-mouth.

After about a fifteen minute wait, I was given my take-out and went home. The onion rings were okay, but nothing too exciting. Not too soggy, but not much flavor in the batter.

The burger did not come with the bacon I ordered, but at least I wasn't charged for it either. The bun was a bit stale and the burger was definitely a few minutes past "medium" and not very juicy. I was expecting a much thicker patty after seeing what looked like a large raw patty being made in the kitchen.

Overall, I was disappointed. I think if they took a little more care with the burgers they would be on to something, but a stale bun should never happen. I'm willing to give them another chance, but they are a bit pricey for what was served.

I only see a few tables full every night, so I have a feeling people have had similar experiences.
