I was pretty surprised when I walked into Mundo because it was completely the opposite of what I was expecting. It has a homey yet trendy atmosphere (reminds you of a SOHO living room) and offers dishes from around the world. I especially could not believe that they served Hungarian sour cherry soup! And while it looks a little too "pink", the flavor is so refreshing--especially on a summer night--that you want to take some home with you. My favorite dish at Mundo are the Ottoman dumplings—very light, creamy and flavorful. I also encourage trying their chicken croquettes. They're big round balls of yummyness--soft, hearty and fried to perfection. Being the dessert freak that I am, the ricotta ice cream is a great choice—a good amount of sweet and crunchy (topped with caramelized almonds). The staff here is really friendly and is not afraid to give you their honest opinion. Try Mundo but be prepared to wait if crowded, this place is VERY intimate (as in small).
