Everyone loves a little down home Queens Comfort in their life, and judging by the steady lines that appear in front of this place each weekend, they must be doing something right. I recently caught wind of the fact that their 3rd year anniversary is coming, which in some ways seems long overdue. It sounds gluttonously delicious and I thought to spread the word with you.

I can't believe it's only been a year since Alobar has joined LIC - it's felt like they've been a staple in the nabe for so long. In just one year, they've not only brought us some revolutionary food (especially in pig form) but also a great sense of community, elevating the level of food sophistication on Vernon Blvd.
See what they've got in store for their big anniversary week next week - it looks like a rich lineup of goodies is in store:

In the spirit of celebration, I wanted to let you know about a great event that's going on this Thursday at DiWine Wine Bar. It happens to be their 3 Year Anniversary celebration, and the deals they're extending in its honor are truly awesome and something not to be missed.
A cool and somewhat under-the-radar hangout in the Western part of 31st Avenue neighborhood, DiWine is a great place to chill out after work or on a weekend night. Their wine and cocktails are craftily constructed and they also focus on entertainment and special events that bring you something a little extra.
Here's an example of what you can expect this Thursday, December 8th for their big 3 year anniversary:
3 cocktails for $6
3 beers for $5
3 types of free hors d'oeuvres
You can drop by all day and enjoy the fun. Congrats DiWine on your big 3!

Image by www.astorianyc.blogspot.comRizzo's, known for their square "Grandma" pizza is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this Saturday, May 30th. In honor of their big 5-0, they'll feature 50's prices (well almost) with $.50 slices of pizza, Italian ices and soft drinks from 12 p.m. - 5 p.m. Quite a deal for this iconic pizzeria, which is loved and respected by our community. If you haven't yet checked it out, I hope this deal encourages you to do so.
In addition to all the savory pizzas, they also serve a pizzetta Nutella with hazelnut cream (Nutella), dark chocolate chips and powdered sugar. Yum!
