There's been a lot of chatter recently about the upcoming Francis Cafe, that's replacing the old 718 space on Ditmars. Everyone has been waiting and waiting (me included) so I popped over the other day to see what's going on with its progress. It really looks ready and set to go, the outside looks gorgeous and complete and I peeked inside too. Charming!

I'll do some more digging, but the word on the street is that they're waiting to pass inspection and then it's go time. Keep me posted if you know anything, but in the meantime, I'll keep investigating. Just wanted to get it on your radar that the new Frenchie place is almost on the horizon.

I live in the neighborhood and walk past Francis Cafe almost every day. As of today, June 18 2012, no one knows anything about the opening date. On the side of the Cafe (under the same awning) a French bakery opened a while ago but they claim no knowledge of anything related to Francis Cafe. Keep investigating!
